Mother & Son

As I read part of the book of Luke this morning I agreed with the prophet & the psalmist who said that Scripture taste sweeter than honey, for the first time.  As I'm reading through the 3rd of 4 eye witness accounts of the life of Christ so much of what He says is what He said through the prophets.  The difference between the prophets and the gospels?  When the Lord says something in the books of the prophets the prophet writing that particular book says "the Lord says..."  but when the Lord says something in the gospels Jesus just outright says it because He is Lord.  In the book of Luke it is written that Jesus declares that He is the Lord over and over. So many other religions view Jesus as a prophet because of all of His miracles, but being that He proved His power and that He has authority... then of course the fact that He said He is God makes His either a crazy person or indeed the Creator of the Universe... and He proved that He isn't crazy.  Awesome. Honey sweetness.

More on Mary...   Luke 11:27-28, "As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, 'Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.'  He replied, 'Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it."
As I've been exploring the heart of Mary the last few days I had a couple thoughts about this passage. The woman said this mainly because the culture put a high value on women who became mothers and for Mary to have such a wonderful Son, she is surely blessed.  Indeed Mary was blessed to be the Mother of Jesus, but that wasn't the correction God was making here.   Her initial heart condition is the reason she was chosen, thus Mary was first blessed because she heard the word of God and obeyed it.  She Loved God, which is why she was blessed, it was a choice she made to live her life in love with Him... Jesus is saying here, we can be blessed in the same way.  Choose to accept His gift of Love, it gives us the ability to love Him too.
