turn the lights on

Tonight I walked into a dark room to read, turned on the light, then but a box over it.  Make sense?  Why not?

Luke 11:33-36
"No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl.  Instead he puts it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light.  Your eye is the lamp of your body.  When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light.  But when they are bad, your body also is full of darkness.  See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness.  Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when the light of a lamp shines on you."

Some people need the light to begin with. And some people who have it need to let their light shine... stop casting shadows on parts of our lives we don't want God in because of one reason or another.  We can try to hide all kinds of things from Him right down to emotional pain, future plans, outright sin, etc...  The thing is He can already see it all, the shadow is like this wall that doesn't allow Him in to help us grow and become who we were created to be. The cast shadow is unwillingness.  Let God's light shine within you casting out all the shadows, all the darkness.  Of course, just as our eyes sting when we turn on a light after being in a dark room there is a spiritual sting with we let His light shine within... but then we can see!!

Each of us is a work in progress and as God allows circumstances in our lives that pull out the crud in our hearts we have the opportunity to give it to Him and let His light shine on that area. Talk to Him about everything, letting Him in the loop just like you would your best friend or your shrink.  Fall apart if you need to, He is a safe place. Confess all your sin, He is a safe place. Discuss your future with Him, He is a safe place. He wants so much to be a part of each one of us!!  Luke 13: 34 says, "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!" He longs for you... take a moment and settle into that!  He longs...for... you! He came to live a human life, to die and raise to life again to be with you in this intimate way!! He yearns for intimacy with each of us, which takes letting His light completely fill us.
